All Haven Pottery pieces are glazed and fired to provide a finish that is both food and dishwasher safe. While this is a requirement for our functional pottery, it also creates a very rugged finish on our traditional board games and game pieces.
The pottery produced at Haven Pottery is totally handmade — no molds are used in creating any of our pieces. Because the potter personally creates and produces each design, the number of pieces produced here is limited.
The mugs are all wheel thrown, with hand formed features such as handles that are unique to each item . While most of our functional pottery’s individual nature is expressed through glazes and the shape of the object, some of them also include hand carved or pressed designs.
Each of our traditional games are made by first rolling a slab and carefully processing it to provide a flat base game board. When these slabs are leather hard, they are customized by carving or pressing style features by hand into the slabs to assure that each game is a unique usable art piece.
Each game bag includes all game pieces needed to play the game, rules for a common variation of the traditional game, and links to web pages for other variations for your enjoyment.
The designs created at Haven Pottery and shown on these pages are a unique merging of techniques from chip carving, leather tooling, woodworking, and traditional handmade pottery. Each design is the creative property of Haven Pottery and may not be reproduced or publicly displayed without specific written authorization of Haven Pottery. |
